What is an end-of-life doula
I can tell you about myself, as an end-of-life doula. I am a very compassionate person. I have been a CNA, I have been involved with hospice care for many years. I am a licensed hair-stylist/barber for over 30 years, which has allowed me to become personally involved with so many people and their lives.
I am grateful for each experience I have with everyone I get to know. I have an adult son with autism that requires constant care, I come from a large family where I’ve learned to deal with many different ups and downs, illness and disabilities. I feel that with my experience I have the empathy needed to be with family and loved ones as they near the end of their mortal journey on earth. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN END-OF-LIFE DOULA VS HOSPICE
The difference between Hospice and End of Life Doulas is that doulas do not provide medical care. Instead, doulas work in conjunction with hospice programs. End of Life Doulas are working to bring a greater meaning to what happens at the end of our lives by helping the dying and their caregivers navigate through the spiritual, emotional and physical changes accompanying death.

As an independent contracted doula, I am available at any time for as long as the family would like. If the support base needs to work, be gone, is out of the area or maybe just needs the extra help and support going through this end of life journey, I will be able to ease their burden.

I am able to massage: legs, feet, hands, arms, face, scalp, to read, talk/listen, pray, meditate, do make-up, hair, nails, or simply sit and comfort. I will also help with end of life care/responsibilities. Since I am a licensed barber/stylist and a certified nurse’s aid, I am able to do these things.

I will be able to have an environment that’s personal and calming, to help promote and maximize the feeling of comfort and improve the quality of life. This will also alleviate any feelings of loneliness, stress, and anxiety.
